Zhang Haidi, president of Rehabilitation International, attended the first Global Disability Summit and made a keynote speech on July 24, 2018, in London, UK. She noted that since she took over as president, with the support from the Chinese government, Rehabilitation International has set up both the Africa Fund and the Global Disability Development Fund to support the development of projects for disabled people from Africa and developing countries. She said that the summit is groundbreaking, and will have significant impacts on promoting inclusiveness and sustainable development for the disabled worldwide.
During the Summit, Zhang also held a meeting with the CEO of Leonard Cheshire Disability and visited several organizations for persons with disabilities in UK.
The first Global Disability Summit was attended by about 750 representatives from nearly 30 countries, about 100 international organizations for persons with disabilities, world-renowned companies and related institutions.
