Zhang Haidi, president of Rehabilitation International (RI) and chairperson of the China Disabled Person’s Federation (CDPF), was invited to address an event in Europe via video link marking the centenary of RI.
Zhang pointed out that RI’s centenary is an important milestone for the organization’s development, serving as a link between the past and present.
For 100 years, RI has transcended boundaries, races, and ideologies in calling for the protection of people’s health, integrity of life, and human rights for those with disabilities. In doing so, it has left an impressive mark on the history of international movements for people with disabilities.
RI Europe is an important member of the organization, making great contributions to the promotion of the international cause for people with disabilities.
Its centenary was also marked by recognizing the contributions and efforts made by each of its members throughout history. In her speech, Zhang called on branches in various regions to hold the humanitarian torch at this historic moment to enhance the organization’s international influence and work together for the welfare of the one billion people with disabilities around the world.
This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the foundation of RI Norway. Zhang sent her congratulations to the organization and encouraged it to start a new chapter and make more contributions to RI and the international cause for people with disabilities.
Finally, Zhang welcomed and invited all members to come to Beijing in May 2023 to celebrate RI’s centenary.
