Huang Yueqin, Chair of Commission of Health and Function of Rehabilitation International and vice chair of China Disabled Persons’ Federation (CDPF) recently attended a WHO meeting to help address unmet rehabilitation needs worldwide.
Huang shared her insights during the two-day stakeholder consultation on the priority activities of the World Health Organization (WHO) secretariat towards the Rehabilitation 2030 Call for Action, which kicked off on Jan 11 in Geneva, Switzerland.
As an expert on mental health, Huang expressed China’s positive attitude toward joining the Rehabilitation 2030 Call for Action at the meeting.
Huang discussed the role of CDPF in the move as well as the effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine in rehabilitation treatments with WHO officials and representatives from US NGOs.
Participants in the meeting offered feedback on the tools, resources and plans to help strengthen health system and equip the medical workforce to deliver quality services across all levels of the health system.
The meeting also aimed at providing opportunities for collaboration in future development and implementation.
Proposed in February 2017, The Rehabilitation 2030 Call for Action, presents actions required to reduce the substantial unmet global need for rehabilitation.
